Prompt
- Art Assignment 2: make your own Land Art intervention
- Individually or in pairs, choose one site in Shanghai or the surrounding area
- Create a specific set of parameters to guide your walk
- Along the way, gather natural materials to use as materials for site
intervention/in-class installations (be sure to bring bags/containers) – objects can include dirt, leaves, fallen branches, insects, water,
string/natural rope, paper, card, etc.
- Arrange the objects in the site (think Goldsworthy or Long)
- note: you are welcome to play around with scale. If,
for instance, you envision an intervention of a large branch or tree
placed on the ground but only have a small twig, you may digitally alter the image. However, be sure to share the original/actual intervention
as well.
- Be sure to gather those same materials again to bring into class
- Document the walk and the site with photographs, video, and drawings in creative ways (think Richard Long)
- Post your Land Art intervention, thoughts, findings, documentation on your individual blog
- Prepare to share in class

I walk on a hot sunny morning, so my walking prompt goes: Walk until the next crossing, and turn to the side with more shades and green.

A crossing! All four ways seems not with too much green, with mainly only the trees on the side… Let’s go this way!

Find a stick, looks like a magic one.

Magic stick says let’s go this way.
In front of a C-store, found some cigarrettes and paper wrap.
Still, everytime I collect something, I feel 偷感(tougan)(feeling like a thief), and a bit akward.

Every leaf is different. Yet, taking two leaves from the ground, who would even notice it?

Looking not so lively around here…

There goes the singing 洒水车 (water-pouring bus). How can I catch water?

A gi~~ant leaf! Little grass, giant leaf, and little me.
And, finally walking into a sideway, some greens next to the bigger road! Cheers for sideways!
